My backstory and introduction

Details: 26 June 2022. Hello peeps, I (27m) am new here; I joined after being urged to do so by a Mental Health Officer who has been seeing me since I got discharged from hospital. I suffer from depression, anxiety and only-recently-discovered-and-thus-untreated Austism. Additionally, I am gay and have severe social isolation.

Techniques for anxiety (that have worked)

Details: I'll share some simple examples: - reading, painting, drawing, singing. - breathing exercises / mindfulness exercises (just consciously choose to focus on your breath for 2min and take deep breaths) - serving a cup of tea or coffee and sitting comfortably to enjoy it.

Physical pain makes me think I will have a heart attack

Details: Changed my life a round to work less, relax more, be more healthy and look after #1 more. It certainly changed a lot in my life but the trauma of going to hospital stuck with me. Sudden death of an old friend

Anxiety and employment.

Friend is Severely Depressed.

Details: Additionally, another alternative that Allison might like to try if she wants support outside of the school counsellor and can't see the GP is your local headspace centre. headspace is a free drop in clinic for 12 - 25 year olds that supports young people with physical health, mental health, drug/alcohol use and work/study support.
